    anodized whistling teakettle

I am trying to locate a replacement anodized teakettle. I think the design was in the Museum of Modern Art (like the Movado watch). I have found the shiny stainless steel version, but don%26#39;t want that. The base is larger than the top. The handle is turquoise (non-metallic). The whistle is an orange bird.
Hi, theorangecats, The kettle in question was designed by Michael Graves in 1985 when he worked for Alessi and according to %26quot;Michael Graves Compact Design Portfolio%26quot;*, it became an instant icon of the 80s. You can still purchase the kettle directly from Alessi on their website: http://www.alessionline.com/productsDetail.asp?p_productId=654%26amp;p_groupId=4 where it apparently comes with both a red (shiny) and an orange bird (matte), but when I tried to sample order it, I could only choose the shiny version with the red bird. You can contact them at info@alessionline.com in Belgium for more help. They may also have information on where to get the kettle through resellers around the world. Other locations that sell it online appear to be only European (definitely has both red and orange bird versions): http://www.pad-online.co.uk/acatalog/pad_online_catalogue_alessi_14.html I was unable to locate a North American store that sold the alternative version of this kettle, nor even an eBay reference, it was all the shiny red bird version only. I%26#39;m not sure where you are located, but Micheal Graves creates kettles and other cookware designs for Target Stores in the US. You may be able to find a kettle in his style that suits your style if purchasing it from Alessi or European stores isn%26#39;t reasonable. http://www.target.com/common/catalog/category.jhtml?navAction=jump%26amp;catnav=8877 * RESOURCES: Iovine, Julie. If you go to www.alessionline.com, choose %26quot;michael graves%26quot; as the designer, then press %26quot;go%26quot; on the left side of the page. The tea kettle is one of the first items that comes up.
I am on my second version of this tea kettle. The first was badly scratched by a visiting babysitter who cleaned it with steel wool. I lived with it for 18 years and recently replaced it. Unfortunately, my cleaning lady has cleaned it with something and it is now scratched as well. Does anyone know how to polish one of these kettles to remove scratches? There must be a way.
